A weekend of promise and potential ended with bittersweet emotions for VPX Motorsport at Road America, as the Canadian team once again showed the pace and professionalism that has quickly made them a strong contender in Pirelli GT4 America.

Fresh off the momentum of Danny Dyszelski’s overall victory in Porsche Sprint Challenge North America GT3 Cup at Road America the week prior, the team entered the weekend with confidence. Both Dyszelski and Alex Ellis were quick from the outset, topping the charts in Thursday testing and carrying strong momentum through the practice sessions. Qualifying delivered solid grid positions for both races, with Race 1 slated from P7 and Race 2 from P6.
Unfortunately, Saturday’s opening race never truly got underway, as extreme weather forced it to be cancelled after a pace lap. That race will be rescheduled in three weeks time at Barber Motorsports Park.
Sunday’s Race 2 saw VPX’s race craft and engineering truly shine. Dyszelski opened with a masterful drive, threading through traffic with the precision and dexterity of someone far older than his 17 years of age. Together with careful tire management, he positioned the team perfectly for the second half. Ellis picked up the charge and showed tremendous pace, climbing into the fight for the overall lead. While contact ultimately ended the team’s podium run, the display of speed and teamwork highlighted the potential of the young squad.
Though the result wasn’t what VPX Motorsport had been targeting, the weekend reaffirmed both their capability and potential. The car was impeccably prepared thanks to the tireless efforts of the engineer and mechanics, with invaluable support from Porsche Motorsport North America.
The team departs Road America for the next rounds at Barber Motorsports Park, the racetrack where VPX Motorsport made its impressive debut 1 year ago.
